What are you doing right now? LATE SEASON, WARM WEATHER?
Coming down to the wire here in S.E. Wisconsin. We are not getting the cold weather that normally kicks the deer into open feeding areas in daylight and we don't have long left to hunt... So, whats the plan?
For me its going to be some quick scouting and picking an area based on active sign. Going to try and hug bedding, but thats not always possible with bucks bedding closer to food at thios time of year...
So whats YOUR plan?

That's my plan and try to hit some beds that did not produce yet this year, due to timing maybe, but also think with the woods being bare it's goin to be hard to get close.

Re: What are you doing right now? LATE SEASON, WARM WEATHER?
Our bow season is shut down until the 22nd of December. In fact deer season is closed for 2 days and kicks back in Saturday. I am staying home and not going out with the orange army out and about. I don't have any properties that don't have gun hunters. So I'm not doing anything until those guys clear the woods.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

It is going to be tough hunting for a weekend warrrior such as me. I am going to go ask permission on a private land piece tomorrow morning. I know it is full of deer and i even shined a slob (plus 3 other bucks i would pee my pants for) there this summer. After i get turned down on that I will be spot checking a few secluded crop fields to check for standing/stubble corn and hopefully the warm weather allows for some tracks to be left behind. If i somehow manage to find a place that looks good i might even set up a stand and sit. Tough hunting but gotta do it

I'm trying to find a decent buck to hunt. I have 15 cams deployed right now and I plan to keep moving them until I find something exciting. Nothing yet. It was easier to inventory when baiting was legal.
I have one confirmed buck to hunt in SW WI, but my hunts will be limited due to limited daylight, holiday hunt, and family.
I plan to shoot a doe or two in the Central WI farmland regardless. Herd is too high in my opinion.

I'm a beginning to shift on beds that are relatively close to food.
I must have been where the rut wasn't hahahaha.
Time for me to focus on food!

I have 3 weeks off work coming up and figured why sit on stand if I don't plan on killing a doe so I will be scouting for next season. Snow is pretty much gone so this years sign is very easy to see. Just need to figure out what sign was made by bucks that are still alive. If I do sit on stand it will be for observation only.

Re: What are you doing right now? LATE SEASON, WARM WEATHER?
I have about 6 or 8 days that I can hunt before my season will end. Three of those days are moon mornings so I will hunt those mornings and then scout the late morning and hunt the evenings. The mornings that aren't moon mornings I will scout for the evening hunt. I will probably focus on remote areas with briar thickets.

Going to wait till Jan 1 or 2nd. And go for a long walk in a piece that has only one access point. 3/4 mile walk before you get
off the easement, then will see from There. It has a great looking spot in about i nees to check out. Looks like next year i will be using the jon boat and some 3-4 mile rides in.

Shining fields the first hour and a half of dark, then going in with the stand on my back and setting up on fresh sign.
I pay real close attention to the forest floor where acorn digging is occurring. I don't pay to much attention to rubs this time of year

Re: What are you doing right now? LATE SEASON, WARM WEATHER?
Been trying to sneak as quietly as possible through the brush with stand on back to get as close as i dare to suspected bedding.
Very tough now with less cover. Dry leaves with light / no wind i'm passing and choosing my battles more wisely.
Going to check camera cards this evening from the farm. If we got more shooters than suspected, might have to hunt a cold front or three in candyland.
