At least up in my neck of WI I think you have a good chance of killing a big buck on Thanksgiving due to lots of groups of hunters doings drives all day long. Hoping that works out for me today :D

I almost killed a stud yesterday. Came in and was 25 yards out but couldn't make the final movement because of a smaller buck who had gotten down wind and had me pinned down. So watched and waited and eventually the stud got nervous when the Dow he was with was reading the smaller bucks reactions. I've always wanted to whack a good one on thanksgiving and was oh so close...... Damn

Looking at this picture makes me realize I've never got a picture of mature buck on Thanksgiving either  I think I need to look for greener pastures for this week next year.

[glow=red]It might be the biggest buck I have gotten on cam all year.[/glow] He has a huge body, makes his head look tiny, and that makes me think he is even bigger than he looks. If I thought I had any chance of patterning him I wouldn't have shown him to anyone but he might be miles from his usual core area....looks like one of those big old late rut cruisers we see once then disappear.

Last Tuesday I saw a farmer picking a field of corn next to one of my spots and knew the deer would be all over it so I hung a cam on a trail to there...did not expect that buck much less in daylight. I think there was a late hot doe in the neighborhood, got a bunch of little bucks that day as well.

While doing drives today I found 3 fresh scrapes in the snow. Must be some late rut action too.

Very impressive buck there.
