Trailcam: I'm going to Canada Sat-Sat. I'll keep my head down and away from locals. Many of the knuckleheads should be gone, I hope.

I was able to hang onto my buck tag, nephew took one for the team for me, so maybe I'll muzzleloader.

I could hunt MN the next 4 days, and should, but it would be smart to work and see my family.

Tracked a big buck with hot doe on Sunday. He went onto the only piece of private in about 3 miles. He was making mistakes and they weren't going anywhere fast. She split and stayed on public. I tracked her for a couple hours to see if he'd try to find her or if she'd pick up another buck, which she did, but he was much smaller. At 2PM I had to let it go because I was a long long way from my vehicle and he wasn't what I wanted to drag back through the stream I crossed / broke through. Only a couple feet deep.

Anyway, Monday we double teamed a big buck with a doe. We pressed them pretty hard and when they figured it crossed a lake. No.thanks after yesterday. Not worth it.

After that I picked up a track that looked old but wasn't. I knew it stopped snowing at 10AM and it was 10:30AM. It had been blown in with fluffy snow. But the edges were crisp at the toes. Jumped him right away. Way sooner than I even guessed. I hate that. Also it is really tough to pick deer out when it was so sunny. Tracked and jumped that one until dark. I really thought I was going to jump him again in a meadow but he billy goated up a hill and I followed. Today I tracked that same buck again but after 5 hours it got so mixed in with fresh tracks of some other deer I jumped it cost me an hour and I never sorted it out. Again, with the short days I needed to head out of the woods to get out by dark. New day tomorrow. Could use a little new snow and a new track.

It's nice and light. No rips yet - doesn't catch on things. Actually the pants even kept most the water out of my boots when I dunked because I had tightened down the bottoms. With rubber boots I might have tucked the pant bottoms into the boots but I had some 1000gr & waterproof hiking boots so I wore them over the boot upper. One thing I noticed is the pants don't freeze at the bottom like regular wool which then starts clicking on your boots and gathering chunks of ice and snow.
