Has anyone ever had a problem with the Lone Wolf buckles?
Hey guys -
I was reading a post on AT earlier where someone was talking about switching the lone wolf buckles over to muddy rope and using a knot instead of the buckle to secure the stick.
One of the posters mentioned where he had read about "all the people who've had issues with the lone wolf buckle failing"
I figured I'd ask on here - since this site probably has the largest collection of people using Lone Wolf products the most often (I also put a thread on AT to try and get the most responses possible), have any of you ever had an issue with the Lone Wolf buckles? If so - were they the Chinese versions, or the USA ones? Any details would be helpful.
I'm just curious because I have never had a hint of an issue with any of my sticks in the last 5 years. I have used my sticks a TON and the only "issue" is where I've had the bolt make a slight indentation in the step. I have not one single safety concern with my Lone Wolf stuff and think its the highest quality gear that I own.
So I'm curious - have any of you ever had an issue with the buckle? I look forward to hearing the responses!
Thanks!

I'm sure they could fail at some point. I think they recommend replacing them every 5 years. This is why I wear a harness. Anything could happen.

I have seen them slip a little after many years of use, or when belts get wet and freeze. But, I have seen the ropes fail much more often. The original L/W stand had a rope like that and it went to the buckle and strap cause it was more reliable.

Had a buckle on a China strap that would slip once in a while. Otherwise never a problem.

No problems here. I think my sticks are 5 or 6 years old and I take my stand in and out a lot.

I got to wonder if it's not from people who leave there stands out in the weather still on the tree for a while rather than in and out every hunt.

Good point
I know a guy that has his LW sticks out for 4 years now on the same tree, same straps and never removed them. Asked if he uses a safety harness and he said: "no"
My next question was.....do you have good life insurance?
