Buck down 8am Saturday morning.
The season has been rough here. The high today was 87. But had a decent weekend. I scouted a area back in July when it was actually cooler than it is now. I went in an hung a stand Thursday around two in the heat of the day. I did not bump any deer. The area had some small early season rubs. The area had two oaks trees dropping acorns that are between two 5 year old cut overs. There was two trails. One of the trails was filtering down hill into the cut over. The other trail ran along the edge of the cut over to inside about 50 yards an had rubs every now an then, appears that bucks are using it to scent check the trails.
Friday morning was slow. But offered some good info. I had one lone doe come through looking around with her tail locked straight out. I sat there in go mode for another couple hours, no go. Stayed at the camp that afternoon an relaxed.
Saturday morning was in the stand when the daylight started to break. Decent morning SW wind an about 55 degrees. I had movement back to my left an could see a deer at a steady walk at 8am coming down the drawl. It was a buck. I turned my Go Pro on an armed it?? The deer was rushing me a little. He stopped quartering away at 14 yards. I sent one his way, heard the air leave his lungs. He broke in his death run an piled up in the nastiest tangle of down hill vines an briers an bushes I have ever seen it seemed.
I looked back to the left an two more deer were at a steady walk on the same trail. The second deer was about 17 inches wide an had short tines. Maybe a good deer in couple years. The third was a fork horn.
I reached to stop the recording on the camera. Apparently I missed the record button! Missed the whole deal that would have been posted here. The weather is supposed to break by middle week an cooler weather for weekend.
This is the only picture I took. Sorry for the bad picture. It was hot an I was trying to get him taking care of. Still makes me mad about the Go Pro. The season is still young.

I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Congrats! You wouldn't be the first one to miss or double tap the record button.

Dandy buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
