Re: How do you pass the time
If I start to get bored, I think about how I feel on the last day of the season when I realize that it's a whole year until I'll be able to sit in a stand again. That usually makes me focus again and really appreciate the time that I'm given out in the archery woods.
Phones have also helped if you have a network of bow hunters that you can text or check in with(like on the beast). It helps to motivate me to hear that other guys are seeing action even when I'm not.
I also spend a lot of my time in the woods praying. In the craziness of modern life, the solo time that I get in the archery woods seems like the only time that I'm able to slow down and enjoy the simple things in life.

I don't have a tactic, I just stick it out.
I don't like getting on my phone because I feel like it takes up too much of my attention, I don't want to miss anything.

If you want to kill a deer you have to be in the woods.

Re: How do you pass the time
I'll take my phone with me, but more times than not I won't have any coverage. Most of the times I'll be thinking about what it is I can do to improve the farm. Just started working on our farm this year with foodplots and such. So I have a lot to think about now. When I do have coverage I find I check the forums I'm a member of to see if there is anyone out there having success.

Re: How do you pass the time
I like a small radio. I used to have a tiny mp3 player that had radio also and I could listen to the Badger or Packer game on the weekends. Had it turned all the way down and only 1 ear bud in. That way i could still hear everything going on around me. Other than that it's checking in with the beast to see how others are doing.

It's funny, usually I'm pretty engaged in thinkng, watching, listening. But twice I've fallen asleep and awoke by deer. It's my new secret strategy.
