Vacation WI Rut Hunt

Unread postby n.sampey » Wed Oct 22, 2014 3:33 pm

Ok guys so I have a 14 day period to hunt the Wisconsin rut. I'm leaving Louisiana the 29th of Oct. And should arrive the 30th evening in Ogdensburg. I will be in a stand all day everyday until November 9th. My question is with y'alls experience will I be there the right time period. I have hunted Kansas, and Illinois and both seem to be different on exactly which days to be in the stand for the rut. So just curious if y'all could enlighten me if I'm gonna be there for the right time period

perfect timing!!!

peak might be a little later, but typically Oct 31 is when bucks start getting nuts-o...lots of chasing

scrapes are popping up like popcorn right now, cut a slough of em today

Great area. Waupaca Co. pumps out the Slobs every season. High deer densities. Very private lots of QDM practiced there.

Yes, great area. I know a lot of people that hunt near there. I hunt close myself, just a bit north of where you will be by 10-15min.......I'm assuming you are hunting private? Nonetheless there is a lot of QDM there and not uncommon to see bucks in the 140-150" range. I took off Nov 5-7 and 12-14 myself. Over the years the first few weeks of Nov have been good, but I still prefer the first 2 weeks of bow season.........I know rut is exciting but can also be so unpredictable. Good luck!
