Wisconsin guys
OK you Wisconsin guys I was wondering where in the state most of you live, lower, middle or upper section.
I will try and make a poll of this if I can because my brain is turning an idea but I am not sure if I can make it a reality.
Also, I looked at the Wisconsin webpage at non-resident licenses but could not see if the archer tag enables you take only one deer or two. If only one, how would you be able to get two?
Does anyone know hotel prices over there during the archery season, just a general idea.
Thanks.

Re: Wisconsin guys
You get one free farmland zone antlerless tag with the purchase of an archery buck tag. I'm not certain of the regs in the southern third of the state in the CWD area.. I think they backed off this year in that area as far as number of tags issued. As far as hotels go if you're in the Green Bay Area like me expect to pay double or triple on Packer home games.. I rented a motel room last year during rut, it wasn't much but 175$ for 7 days was a great price imo..

That motel I rented was about 45 minutes from Green Bay by the way...

Re: Wisconsin guys
actually i'm in green bay......
north of Hwy 64 is forested zone, there's also the central forest,
farmland zones get a free antler-less tag with both a bow and a gun tag purchase,
there's some big changes for next year and tags - if you hunt public and private its going to get pricey as the antler-less tags will be private or public specific, there are going to be antler-less harvest quotas based on land ownership so it is conceivable you will not be able to harvest a doe in the county you hunt on public land.
there will be public meeting which are being held by the CDAC committee

Live in North Central (Merrill) but prefer to hunt in Southern despite claims of poor population.

Re: Wisconsin guys
Thanks so far guys.
Let me also throw this out there, where would be a good section to hunt for non slobs like most of you guys go for? I would be looking for what most of you pass up. And I would also need it to be accessible via the track chair.

Re: Wisconsin guys
I live in northern zone, buck only this year but with a handicap permit should let you shoot a doe also. I know for resident disabled permits allow to do so.
Hotels around these parts 50-70 per night.
If you do decide northwoods( it's not as easy as farmland) I could work with you to get a deer. Can't promise good buck sightings but a doe without much difficulty. ( again doe if WI allows non resident disabled to do so)

Re: Wisconsin guys
Thanks again for the feedback so far.
The reason for me asking is I have started to ponder taking at trip over to that state, maybe next year. Besides watching all of the "passes" in the live from the stand thread, one guy I had hunted with a few times went there last year and said he saw more deer in two weeks there than in about 3 years in Mass - NH (and this guy can walk so you know he sees more here than I do ).
And no I do not get mad at reading people passing on deer, that thread is about talking about what you see so I hope I do not come off as bitter or anything.
Just taking a quick peek it looks to be about a 17 - 20 hour drive from here to there. I would probably have to rent a uhaul trailer to bring the track chair with me.
As for the hotel rate mentioned above that is not bad at all.
Just have to see if I can put it together and would love it if I could get a partner to head over there with me as heading out by myself is not something I would prefer to do since I cannot do that type of driving without a nights break and leaving the uhaul with the chair in it in a parking lot would make me a little nervous to say the least.

Re: Wisconsin guys
I believe the 1st time you purchase a non-res. archery permit in Wisconsin its only $85
You can shoot a buck right away and a doe, you have to shoot a doe to shoot a second buck. This is only allowed in the southern zone.

Re: Wisconsin guys
There are also some places that allow special hunts. They may require you to apply ahead of time but it may be another option. If you want more information let me know and I'll PM it to you. The more options you have the better your odds of getting something.
