Well I have read just about everything on here I can and put it to good use. I looked over a topo of the public land in my area and found a saddle in the middle of the land. It is about 1 1/2 to 2 miles from the nearest road. I walked back into it just to see what it may hold.
I found tons of black oak trees and right in the middle of the saddle I found 2 scrapes side by side. Now the question is how do you hunt a scrape? (and do I want to drag a deer this far??)
hunting beast info pays off! Now what?

The fact that there was a scrape there to me just confirms buck travel through the saddle. Other than that the scrape isn't that important. My plan would be to do a couple all day sits there during the rut when bucks will be cruising.
I would stay out of there until then. You won't care about the long drag if it's a great buck. When I hunt places that I know will be tough to get a deer out of, it makes it a lot easier to pass up lesser bucks.

Yep sound like a good place for a rut hunt, yes you will want to drag one that far if its big enough. If rules allow you may want to look into quartering or deboning the deer way back and packing them out.

Blindfolded friends work great for dragging.
Hunt the scrape in October just after it rains
