Sit or stand

Unread postby parkersdad » Sat Sep 27, 2014 12:30 am

Do you sit or stand while hunting? With the new Alpha I find myself having to stand more.

If I could, I would stand the entire time. That being said, I sit 95% of the time or my lower back will be shot. I try to hit that last hour of an evening hunt standing.

Both. I always try to stand during prime time and prefer to shoot while standing.

Both. I think my tailbone is one hard sneeze away from shooting through the skin on my bottom. I feel every piece of cast aluminum webbing on that seat even with the mernards pad.

I like to "melt" into the tree as best I can; the only way to do that for me is to stand. I'm always sore afterwards but I deal. When I'm standing, I not only melt into the tree more, but I'm always ready for anything.

I prefer to sit and do 99% of the time. I am moving far less and I almost always have time to grab the bow and stand up. I guess I figure if I ever bust a few getting up, the result would still be fewer deer bumped then me moving more.

I used to stand the entire time. When you get older standing for long periods of time is not an option. I sit now but always stand to shoot when possible. I think I can sit with less movement than stand also.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Sit until it's time to shoot or the last hour.

I always sit and shoot sitting down out of my lone wolf. When I practice shooting my bow I take a chair sit and shoot out of it. Probably 90 percent of the bucks I've killed with a bow I've shot sitting down
