Newbie to the forum
I ran across this magnificent forum a couple weeks ago and have been lurking ever since. I frequent many forums but the plethora of knowledge and information here is astounding. I have learned so much reading through all the threads in the past couple weeks but I have a few questions that come to mind.. Forgive me for asking but I just cant find the answers.
What is the deal with the milkweed? I assume its used as a wind indicator and to check thermals? Could someone point out a thread explaining thermals?
Im sure I will have many more questions to follow, so thanks in advance guys.

Welcome...Lots of great hunters here and excellent knowledge.
You are correct, milkweed seeds can be used as wind checkers.
I have used this myself and it is surprising by watching them swirl
around what the wind is actually doing. On one hunt last season I
thought I was ok wind wise, but after the first group of deer didn't
like something, I used the milkweed and sure enough...the wind swirled
just enough for me to get picked off...On thermals, just search on here
and their should be some good discussions...warm air rises up hill in the
mornings, cool air falls downhill in the evening.

Welcome to the Beast.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Thats interesting to know, Id like to consider myself to be fair at deer hunting but after reading many of the posts on this board, I have a long ways to go. I maybe looking in the wrong place, but I dont recall seeing any milkweed around these parts (West Tennessee).
I never knew that about the thermals, interesting to know. I hunt the floodplains of the Mississippi River and the biggest hill I may be faced with is a 1 or 2 foot tall ridge. FLAT sums it up.
Considering the land features have little change, its very challenging to pattern and or predict what deer may do.
Thanks for the warm welcome fella's, I hope to be able to use the information here to make this season one of the best yet.
