This includes the CWD affected areas where they were legal before.
I overlooked this change until now so wanted to remind anybody that may have missed this as well.
Wonder why the change? Doesn't seem wise to protect certain deer in the "affected zone".

They no longer have a CWD zone, and are no longer taking a kill everything approach. I know there were a lot of complaints by non-hunters about killing the white deer.

Re: Albino deer protected statewide in WI
You would not believe what a fuss this deer caused when it was shot a few years ago by a non resident 15 minutes from me.... The locals had watched the buck since he was a yearling, and they all kind of got together and said they would not shoot him because he was like one of their pets that they would see out in the fields eating before dark.... So, after the deer was shot, a bunch of people got together and started the campaign of save the white deer....

Thats a bummer I had a small albino buck on trail cam last year. I would have pounded him and put him on the wall for sure.
If it bleeds, we can kill it . . . .

I find this kinda odd. Genetically this is not a desirable trait for a deer herd. Seems like a feeling over science issue. Looks like that rule was put in place to pacify public perception?

Re: Albino deer protected statewide in WI
That buck was killed about 7 miles from where I hunted, the locals went crazy and were even threatening the person that killed it. I was all for them being legal to hunt. I think it was a lot of people at the bar that said they wouldn't shoot him , which is easy to say when the 160" buck isn't standing in front of you and you have to make the call. I think a lot would have shot him , but instead he was killed by an out of towner.

Emotions over logic. Usually a combo for success.
