Just picked a motherload of Milkweed...process?
I wasn't sure what I would need to I just picked like 30 pods.....there were about 200 where i was at. Now from what I am reading here I:
Cut a slit in the pod
Lay them on the car dash for about 2 days
Put them in a paper bag (is it open or closed?)
They should be ready to use after this correct?? Thanks Ron

I don't even cut a slit in them. If you let them dry they naturally open on their own.

Yeah as long as moisture can escape you should be good to go.

I open them up and take the seeds off right away, then put the wet fluff into a paper bag for drying.

Don't leave in your car! Once they dry it will open... I just leave em out in the sunlight somewhere. I usually use 2-3 pods a season max

I slit the pod with a knife or whatever...... it allows them to dry a little faster.

I picked 6 pods three years ago and still have 3 left. You should be good until about 2030! I'd throw a few back in the yard because once day you'll forget where you put them, open a bag and have them go everywhere! :)
I personally just threw them in a paper bag and put in near a window and let them lay, worked out fine for me.

Any advice on transporting milkweed? I been looking for one of those old rubber coin holders. What do you carry your milkweed in?

PERFECT!!!
I was thinking a plastic snuff can with a rubber glove slid over the top and a slit cut in it but the coin holder would be much better!
