It looks like there is some sort of opening the ten point was in. Was that a gap between the marsh and corn?

How close to the bed were you? From the picture it looks like you are up close and personal.

Yeah, I was very close. There was a dead spot of corn that drown out after planting and over grown in weeds, otherwise the corn would be right up to the cattails. I was probably 30 yards from the bed. My approach through the corn, was very slow and quite. I had checked the field several weeks after planting to see how the corn was coming up, and check for tracks. I knew going in where I had to be. Plan be was to pick out a tree in the fenceline to the north. There is an apple tree to the Northeast and soybeans to the North, those were the two food source, I think he was hitting.

Yep, Where I was it was narrowed down to about 20 yards from about 60. I has to sit far enough in the corn to maintain decent back cover. I also had to cover the exit of the bed I thought he was using.

Way cool- could you have drawn on that 10 point? Almost seemed too close.

I had standing corn to block his view. Would have had to draw pretty early. I think I could have but, never know without trying.

Sounds like an awesome hunt, hope you have an encounter with your target buck on the ground as well.
Sure gets the blood pumping when then come by that close. Good discipline on passing that 5x5.
Good Luck in hunting your target buck!

Thanks for answering my Q. Very nice hunt, even if it didn't result in the target buck.

Since nothing came out of that bed you were expecting your target to come from, how long before your back in that spot giving it a second try? Once the corn comes out it will be hard to sneak up that close again. Thanks for taking the time to post your pictures and map. Very well done post!!!
