Tex is dead, long live the Beast!
Last nite was our first sit for the 2014 archery season and camera boy Shane was up to bat as I had lost a bet with him earlier this year............We had multiple trailcam pictures from an area we named the "apple tree stand". One buck in particular as hitting the brassica plot almost day , we named him Tex..........I started getting trailcam pics of Tex and a few other mature bucks right around the end of July, even then I could tell this would be a potential shooter buck as his mass and mainbeam length looked promising.
The evening started with a doe devouring our corn in the plot just to the west of our set up, she was tearing whole stalks of corn down as she ate. A little while later we had 2 1.5 year old bucks pass us just out of range in the woods, one had just started to shed his velvet and hi antlers were stained red wit blood nd shards of velvet were still hanging, a cool sight even though he was not a target buck.
Another 1/2 hour brought 2 does and three more bucks to the north of our location, one was a super 2.5 year old that I can't wait to see next year, he already has about 120" of bone on his young head.
After the gang feed into the soybeans 150 yards away, another young buck with a busted mainbeam entered the brassica as if he owned it, we would watch him for the next 20 mins. or so until Shane said "shooter buck in the woods"! I panned the camera but the foliage was too thick for footage, tense moments passed when I finally saw him in my bino's, "that's Tex"! He moved to the NW away from us and I figured he was gone for the nite..........5 long minutes later we spied him on the north edge the plot, he was working his way in making a 180 degree circle around us, luckily the wind had changed and he was circling upwind of us. As I found him in the viewfinder he entered the plot a mere 30 yards away, telling Shane he would have to wait til he cleared brush for the camera, the bruiser stepped broadside and I had a clear view of the vitals, "whenever you're ready" I whispered and just like that the arrow found it's mark! Tex was dead!

Dandy buck. Congrats to you.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
