Re: Hunting apparel
I am a proud supporter and wearer of Scent Blocker clothing and gear. I would suggest getting into a wind blocker fleece shell that's water proof. Very silent in the tree for moving, great camo pattern, comfortable to wear and helps keep your scent to a minimum.

Re: Hunting apparel
I just bought BDU jacket top and BDU bottom from http://www.enigmacamo.com. Bought a fleece lined hood that zips in. The jacket back, sleeves, and waist are adjustable so you can wear an extra layer, or not... has a slot for harness tether.
I don't have them yet - pants are being sewn in Colorado and Jacket in PA right now. Guys that have it love them.
I got the reinforced features - elbows/rear end etc. I plan to wear them as long as I can into late November by layering and adjusting the back.

Re: Hunting apparel
Another plug for Predator. Fall Gray fleece is a good way to go, but usually too warm for early October.

Re: Hunting apparel
There is no one thing that will work most of the time. Good baselayers and a combination of things will work often.
1: wicking layer.
2: fleece/polartec layer if needed.
3: wind proof layer is always important unless its warm out!
4: more insulating layers as needed.
A good watch cap or a full face mask with a windproof liner if its very cold will always help a lot.
Cabelas stand hunter jacket/pants/one piece is one of the warmest garments around.
But I believe they discontinued it. If it gets real cold you need to carry the insulating layer in so you don't sweat.
The newer military clothing is very good. The level 1&2 baselayers are inexpensive and the only thing better is merino wool.
The level 5 shell jackets and pants are windproof and also good. Very comparable to the best "hunting" clothing and jacket and pants can be had for around $100.
Ebay has some good deals if you look good and hard.
