First day out
Today was our opener went this afternoon. Didn't see a thing got up in some red oaks close to some beds I found this spring. The acorns were dropping though not very heavy. Had a north wind today but every time a breeze would blow it would whip up out of the south or north west. Also when I got up the tree I could ring sweat out of my hat almost 90 today calling for high of 80 tomorrow. Might hit agin in the mourning. I almost wished I went to a ( see deer stand) then I remembered I'm transforming in to a Beast.(lol)Well good hunting and be safe. I can't wait to see where this years journey takes me doing it Beast style

Re: First day out
Hunt hard, hunt smart, and good luck. My opening day is Saturday Sept 13 (WI). Walked around the house today with my LW on my back to get a feel for her. Bow is tuned, clothing is ready, I am ready.
When that big buck walks towards you this fall, concentrate on your breathing and get your eyes off his antlers.

What did you go and do that for? We still have 5 whole days to procrastinate yet. Friday night, now that sounds like a great time to start looking for my gear.
It's not the knowing that's difficult, but the doing.

Sounds like a good start setting here at the computer. While waiting for my chance.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Had a business trip to Chicago Sept. 10-13, otherwise yea I'd be scrambling the night before. I wanted everything ready for opening day and I didn't even go out. Oh well long season.

Re: First day out
I fell into old habits on my first hunt. Left my hang on and stick behind and sat on my trusty 5 gallon bucket. Used lots of other good tips like milkweed.

Good luck to all.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: First day out
Went out this morning, had a great time saw a bunch of youngsters. a few spikes and a basket. I did see a very nice 6 pointer and two very big does but they never came close enough or got clear so I could get a shot. Will be out tomorrow morning as well.
