Which stand and stick to buy right now?
I decided Im just going to buy a brand new stand and sticks to begin my beast hunting tactics next month. Need to start practicing stealthy setups. Are LW and XOP the best options? Which Sticks and how many?
For background, Ive hung many hang ons, usually is a huge pain. Id like something thats easy to setup, light weight, and accessories to make setup faster/easier, and which sticks. I want light more than I want comfort in the stand. Most of my beast hunts will be only a few hours just before evening so I dont see comfort/large stands being required. They will be looooooong walks.
Which Stand? Which Sticks? Where to buy?
Thanks!!

Haven't used one, but those XOPs sure look good.
Wish they would hurry up and come out with the "assault" equivalent stand.

Dan sells L/W stands on this site.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Check out the Muddy sticks, they have double 'steps' so some guys prefer them. They weigh the same as LW sticks(2.5lbs) but are only about 2/3's the length. Some guys use LW sticks with a Muddy on top, the double step is nice up top when hanging, as well as entering/exiting the stand. I get up around 15ft or so with 3 LW sticks, maybe a little under, not sure.
For the stand, I think the LW assault or the smaller XOP would suit your needs well.

Re: Which stand and stick to buy right now?
From what I understand XOP and Lonewolf are basically the same thing. Almost identical products. The biggest difference is that the Lone Wolf Stands and sticks are more expensive because they are made in the US. While the XOP products are made in China so they are cheaper. I think I saw somewhere that the XOP version of the Lonewolf Alpha is like $199.99, but don't quote me on that. While the Lonewolf Alpha is $259.99 through their site. So it just depends on if you wanna spend the extra $50 or $60 or not to have American made. I have heard that the seats on the XOP's make more noise but that the XOP's have a better offset bracket than the Lonewolf treestands (Not from personal experience though, just what I have read on here). So if anybody wants to correct me on any of this info go right ahead!
I personally just bought a Lonewolf Alpha early this summer and enjoy it very much. I have already silenced it with stealth strips and yakgrips and have even been able to put it in the tree a few times now. But at the time that I bought it I didn't know about XOP yet and if I had to buy one again I would have probably went the other way because I'm in college and it woulda saved me some money. But I like it a lot so far and definitely have no complaints with it!
I had no idea about this either otherwise I definitely would have ordered through Dan! Sorry about that Dan!

The lone wolf assault is smaller and lighter then the alpha and I prefer the assault but some people like the alpha better. I think you could go with xop or lone wolf there both good stands either way and I would get at least 3 sticks to go with whatever stand you get.

If you are truly worried about weight look for the LW Assassin. Not sold anymore, but pretty neat little stand for the mobile hunter. Also, Id get 5 sticks or 4 LW and 1 muddy. I use a muddy on top for reasons mentioned above.

Stealth strips make want to buy another stand just because I like how much better they are with the strips on!

Muddy hunter sticks are the same length as the LW sticks but have steps on both sides. I just got some from amazon for $99 and am planning on putting them together tomorrow.

LW Alpha and 4 sticks are hard to beat… IMO the most versatile setup out there. Add a comfort hunt pad to your alpha and this will be the only stand you will ever need.

Quality comes with a price, I would stickl with lone wolf until I seen more from the xop but with andre behind them I am sure they will work there way to the top.

Do the Lonewolf climbing sticks still fit on the alpha the same way when the hunt comfort seat is on it?
