That could turn into a long meeting to get through all the changes they've made!

Re: Attn: Wisconsin hunters
Earlier this summer Mark asked me to give him a tour of some of the public land I know well and offer some habitat suggestions, during that outing he asked about me helping him gather a group of the areas deer hunters. He has stated that he thinks the guys on the Hunting beast are very well informed about deer management and are reasonable people. I believe
he is looking for input about managing the whitetail population and public properties from the hunters perspective.
I have mentioned to him several times that I would like to see a voluntary effort to get hunters to let deer live to older ages in Wisconsin thru educating the public. Its been a while since we discussed this, so I might be off. I plan to talk with Mark hopefully later today... I will post exactly what he wants to discuss after that.

I wish it was closer to me, but I love the idea of letting bucks live to older ages.

Re: Attn: Wisconsin hunters
Hi Dan,
I’m not exactly planning on a set agenda, I will mainly let you guys guide the discussions. I’d like to discuss hunters’ perspectives on deer hunting/public hunting areas in Jefferson County, and bring up the County Deer Advisory Committees, Deer Management Assistance Program, and the new regulations resulting from the Deer Trustee Report. If folks aren’t interested or would rather talk about other topics, that’s fine too.
I mainly want local hunters to know that I’m a resource for them, that I care about what they think, and that I’m willing to listen and work with them.
I could check the availability of the downstairs meeting room at Paddy Coughlin’s Irish Pub in Fort Atkinson. That way we could have relax, have a few drinks, and eat dinner if folks are interested. Plus, I may try to contact the Wisconservation Club and Pheasants Forever chapter to see if they have members interested in attending. Jefferson would be a central location for everybody.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
We are committed to service excellence.

Re: Attn: Wisconsin hunters
Are we limiting it to Jefferson county folks?
No, if hunters from other counties want to come, they are more than welcome. I do want to discuss Jefferson County properties and deer hunting, so some topics might not be relevant to them, but other information will be.

I think this is a great importunity for all of us to get our opinions heard, by someone who is working for us to make hunting better. I am looking forward to it...
