Yes that is a NWR in Arkansas, public land . The season is open for eight weeks the month of October an November . Bow only. They plant Soy Beans an Corn for them yearly. I took those photos about 7:30 this morning. Last year I believe there were about 600 permits sold for 8 weeks of hunting.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

Wow! Good luck waiting. I've got a buddy nearby in Silver Lake, WI who is originally from Arkansas. the first time I was in his home looking at his mounts I kept asking WI or IL? He has only gotten does around here. All of his bucks were from public land in Arkansas. He made me a believer in AR as I always thought of smaller racked and body sized deer.

That's amazing to me. You would never see that in central NY.

Here is a link to Holla Bend. If anybody would like to look at the layout of the land. Thoughts would be appreciated this is my second year here on this NWR. I came close last year on one real nice buck. But close doesn't get the job done. I can not figure out for the life of me how to post this picture.

I just looked at the map, is the entire "bow only" area just that little sliver of land bordering the river?

Here yeah go. I'd take a hard look at the crp in the middle that is mixed in with the crops.

The light blue or gray line everything inside that is bow only. There is 6600 acres of it.

If I had deer around like that than I too would be saying "going to be ten longs weeks".

Good luck out there this year and hopefully we see some other pictures during the season with you and a smile on your face.

No such luck today. The fog hugged the ground until about 9am. It was thick too.

I did see that bachelor group of bucks again.
