2010 Bowhunting Reports
Hopefully I didn't hijack or recreate an exhisting thread.
Some have already begun, while many of us are a mere week or two away. Let the mayhem begin!

Re: 2010 Bowhunting Reports
Was invited to a bachelor party being hosted at my inlaws cabin in Eagle River for the weekend, so I'll be missing my Delafield tree stand where I've been seeing my big cage buck come out almost routinely every evening to start feeding in the alf-alfa. I will, however, be doing my best to get up and hunt the first hour or two of Saturday and Sunday morning on the beach of the lake before returning to bed to sleep off the hurt from the previous night.
We have 5 acres of woods and about 300 feet of shoreline, and I know the deer bed on the point, which is part of the property. about an acre of it is swampy with a little island oasis just big enough for several deer to snooze - and like clockwork they travel the beach in the early morning. What can be better? I'll be on the ground tucked in the edge of the woods with shooting lanes through the pines and birch behind me, but looking out over a gravel/sand beach and a quiet 217 acre lake. Not the BEST spot, but WTH, no choice.
Tell you what, if I shoot a deer on the beach, it will be an awesome image to see. I'll take a picture of my back and front to show my views.
The best of luck to all of you as we embark upon the DAY BEFORE OPENING DAY, at least for those of us here in Wisconsin. So, what's your weekend forecasting?

Re: 2010 Bowhunting Reports
The weather report on my phone says light south winds in the morning and switching to light North winds by saturday evening.... That's not ideal for me, But I think I can find a spot to hunt with a North wind...

I'll be out here in MO for the first time tomorrow. Gonna sleep in and make my long slow walk to setup on a big buck bedding on small ridge

Re: 2010 Bowhunting Reports
Opened in NH on the 15th.
Wed - sat from dawn til dark in 10+ mph winds with bigger gusts and swirly directions - zero deer...
Storm coming in late Thurs - sat for 1 1/2 hours before driving rain forced me out 1 hour early.
Fri. Night - sat for 2 1/2 hours, felt good considering the strorm blew out around noon. 0-3
Dry conditions have got everthing messed up. Acorns have been falling for a month along with some apples. Seems to be 4-6 weeks premature, gonna be a tough season I believe???

Re: 2010 Bowhunting Reports
Went out this morning 0-1 no deer sighting. Was at parking lot at 04:00 started to sprinkle put rain pants on, had my Lone Wolf hung by 04:38. At 5AM it started to pour out over the marsh got pretty wet before I got my rain top on. After the heavy downpour the wind picked up and it dropped at least 10 degrees. It should have made for a good morning. I did see a owl land in the tree next to me around 7am some goose hunters shot and must of scared it my way. Drying things out, back at it tonight.

Re: 2010 Bowhunting Reports
Went out this afternoon saw my first deer of the season at 18:47 it was a nice tall fork horn buck. It was fun to watch he got a free pass from me. I think a different buck was thashing some bushes earlier in a different direction. Still thick hard to see what was doing it.
