Got me a smart phone, need apps.
I finally got a smart phone. I will finally be able to participate in the live from the stand threads.
Anyway, what apps are the best? Im really interested in using it as a gps. Tracking routes to and from stands, etc.
What else is good? Thanks guys.

I recommend Trimble maps.
Gives you aerial, topo, distance measure, point spot for a "home spot" or stand.
I like how you can blend the aerial and topo maps to your own liking.
And...it's Free!

Yes, I have been playing with trimble outdors and it seems pretty decent so far.

Check out Antler Insanity. I like the option where you can text your stand location very easily with exact gps coordinates. I send this to my wife every hunt just before I climb the tree so my location is known in case of an accident. Very important for hunting remote spots.

I find myself using the weather apps more than anything. I run two during hunting season, accuweather and weather.com. Handy for predicting the wind changes etc..

Few more I wanted to add, ScoutLook, WI DNR Hunt(for hunting hours), Pocket Ranger-WI fishing, hunting & wildlife guide, onX Hunt, and the most important one Photobucket so you can post to Live From The Stand.

Check out My Trails. It's Free and has some nice aerials too.
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

x2 on Trimble and Antler Insanity. AI also gives wind direction relative to your stand on any given day based on where you are.

Best weather site and really the only one I use. The main site has a good historical search for researching conditions on past hunts. Really cool for comparing with trail cam pics.

I have been a yearly subscriber to weather undergorund for 7 years. I like the radar.
