Re: Iowa nonresident deer application/ preference point remi
For those that haven't applied for an Iowa tag before, I thought I would give a couple examples of what to expect. I think they make things confusing for a first time applicant by trying to nickel and dime you to death. I think it would be easier if they would just charge the $567.34 for a non resident tag straight up. It's not like they are going to reduce the price if they quit giving out doe tags, etc. Buy the time you get through the process you will have had to buy the licenses and pay the habitat fee in the order shown otherwise you will get error messages.

Most of that is the credit card processing fee.
As deer slayer mentioned, I would rather see a fixed price for the whole works.

If I get drawn this year I will have $623.17 into a tag. If I didn't have a free place to stay I wouldn't be able to go. Some guys here have 3 points so that's $734.83 for a tag if they get drawn this year. Hopefully they don't go up any more. It seems like every few years the price goes up.

Well I guess when people think like that they can charge what they want. Better or not it's still nothing close to what it was

I would say 55 is a bit much, but I will pay to play. As long as they keep tag numbers down and don't mess things up much more like the rest of the Midwest.

Done. I now have 2 points and hopefully draw next season. Gonna be a busy year since I should draw my WI bear tag in 2015 as well with 9 points!

Yes you will have a very full plate baiting all year and bouncing back and forth to IA.

The bear hunt will be guided, hopefully Mike Foss. Still have to get that set up.
My biggest concern is crunching all of my vacation time in for the whole year. 4 weeks just doesn't cut it but I would probably say the same if I had double that!

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
