Hard work (scouting, off season preparation)...

Discipline (knowing when to make you move in certain locations and when to back off, also knowing when and when not to take the shot)...

Confidence (think this is one of the biggest key, if your not confident then your going to be thinking about something else and that buck is gonna slip by you or catch you off guard. Also if your not confident then you will not stay on stand till that last minute of legal shooting light which has cost me before)

You can have all the passion, heart, determination, etc. but if you dont hunt where the big bucks live, you will not be successful (assuming success = killing mature bucks).

Successful bowhunter does not equal great bowhunter.

Tiffany Lakosky(sp?) is a highly successful bowhunter, is she a great bowhunter?

#1 - having access to land that holds and allows for the development of mature deer.
#2 - ability to kill said deer with bow and arrow
#3 - Time

2 and 3 are interchangable...
