Re: How far do you drive for a one day hunt?
I hunt three hours away and do the drive often for just one day. I'll get there around 2 hunt the even then hunt the following morning and head back. I do about 5 hunting trips like that a year on top of 5 scouting trips. I actually just got back from a one night scouting trip about an hour ago. My urban spot is about 45 minutes to an hour and fifteen depending on traffic.

I try to keep under 45 mins I have plenty of public in that radius. Otherwise I stay overnight even if in a tent I like my cot better than a vehicle.

90 minutes one way is my cap.
I usually do an hour one way for one of my leases on a morning or afternoon hunt, but it's getting old and expensive quick.

I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

I drive an hour and a half one way, and although it's family land that I control/manage. It's getting old, it adds up in money and time away from home/family. I have quite a bit of public land from anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes from home that I want to start hunting more.

10 minutes to 30 on average, might start doing some further away hunts now that I have a nicer truck.

I have spots out of state in Ny, Conn, Vt, & Pa available for me to hunt the furthest is 5-6 hours away. To far for me to bother with any more. Lately 1-1.5 hours is to long of a ride, got a lot of spots within 45 minutes of me now, thanks to scouting and moving from private to public, and public with private access Networking with people and asking for permission has helped me stay closer to home.

A little over an hour. I try not to pound the area until prerut. And that keeps the wife happy till rut gets going. Plus it keeps my wallet from being empty before my vacation starts the first 3 weeks of November. Being in the woods is way better than being at work so its worth the drive and the cost of gas.
Perfection is a dream, practice is hard work, and achieving a goal is making that goal a reality.
