I would not have guessed them at that old by looking at them. Congrats. Just proves to me that looking at deer pics and guessing age is futile. Did you have a thread anywhere where people were guessing the age of these bucks? I would have liked to see what people would have guessed.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

Congrats and great thread. I have been arguing for years that it is impossible for anyone to accurately age a deer.

Right on man! I wish I made Matsons first batch this winter, I'll be in their second, can't wait. My experience is that just like me, the DNR guys aging teeth are making semi-educated guesses and CA has proven them wrong in several cases.

Thanks very much for posting this, very interesting.

I need to send in a batch sometime, the problem is a lot of the jawbones I have saved up do not have their middle incisor attached, only the outside 1 or 2 incisors. I read that most labs will only accept middle incisors and the only labs I have seen take other teeth are more expensive. I want to do a bunch of them but not at $25 a pop.

I would of been way off, I figured them to be a bit younger, from the photo. I wonder how off we really are, when we guess their age?
