Ordering Mature Milkweed Plants

Unread postby semperfidelis » Thu Mar 27, 2014 6:49 am

I'm hoping someone has ordered mature milkweed plants online and has been pleased with what they received.

I've learned by calling local nursery's and google searching for milkweed plants I can get immature plants but I've been led to believe they won't produce many pods the first year.

Has anyone had any success in ordering mature plants that would be able to provide sufficient numbers of pods to sustain you through the first hunting season? If so, can you provide the name of the online vendor?

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't have any problem finding them locally. If you are then just call your local extension office or a farmer and they can probably tell you where there are a bunch of them. Even a local nursery might be able to tell you where to get some. I can send you some seeds right now and some pods when they ripen before season.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

As a farmer, I can't believe people sell this stuff! Around here it is nothing more than a plentiful, annoying weed.

If anyone needs seeds or even the fluff bump this thread up in late Aug and I can mail some out. Have them growing all over my yard and my kids love to pick them for me so I have extra to say the least.

They actually consider it invasive where I live although I would love to have a fat patch of it around for the intended purpose.
