Milk Weed seed containment

Unread postby briar » Mon Feb 24, 2014 4:55 am

I am starting to use milk weed seeds thanks to the BEAST. I have a whole bag of them. How and in what do you contain them in for hunting? I have a sweet little container with a screw on lid, but getting them in there and getting the lid on is a real circus. I can imagine opening that thing in the woods would be like opening a jack in the box. Any suggestions?

I put mine in rubber coin purses I bought on eBay. Bought a bunch of them and stick them in all of my jackets and hunting pant pockets.

Dewey gave me this idea 2 seasons ago, I use a green one. It will hold a pile of them, weeks worth. I took the metal chain off and used 25lb Dacron fishing line that's stronger and quieter. Then I took a old small caribiner off of a scent blocker powder dispenser and put it on the sacron, and then I clip it to my pack, zipper etc. I'm gonna have uncle Lou sew a pocket on the outside of my coat just for the coin purse so I can access it easier.

I keep them in the pods they come in(nature packs them best), and put those in a small ziplock bag. Since they are free, I may use up to 4 or 5 pods a day.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

The ice breaker candy container was made to hold milkweed seeds!!! Two openings one big for easy loading & a small one just big enough to pull a few out.

Round plastic shredded jerky container like the tobacco chew containers, with a hole drilled in the top.

Thanks for the ideas!! What I had was a "working hands" cream container. Its nice and solid with a screw on lid. So most of you just drill a hold in the top? Bout what size?

Me also.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
