I came across a hmong dude one time that was easily 25-30 ft up in one of those things w out a harness. The ladder he had lashed together looked like it couldn't have even supported my kids

That is pretty interesting. I know a stand doesn't have to be 20' up a tree to kill a deer from but that doesn't even look 6' off the ground.

I've killed bucks 6 ft off the ground Is hard sometime because I'm 6' 3" 230 makes it hard to hide

I'm glad its not far off the ground, cuz then hopefully whoever climbs up there won't DIE when they fall...yikes.
I hunted out of some less than safe setups when I was a kid but nothing like that.
Was it in a good spot?

Yea, I'm 6' 2" 240 so I know all about the being hard to hide thing...
