Does anyone know how deer eyesight compares to human eyesight? I am curious because I find a bed and I sit in it and look around, do they see the same or better than me? Or worse? I just want to know for picking trees and stand entrances to hunt these beds.
Same goes for smell, if I am upwind of a deer, how far away do I need to be to not be smelled? Is it 100 yards, 200 yards, or is there not a distance.
I know lots of variables come into play, but I want some expert perspective on this.
Thanks!

Here is some interesting info on eyesight.

If you approach and stay downwind of a deer he cannot smell you. Not sure if I understand the other question.

That's a great article, I learned some stuff! Particularly interesting was that a deer's focus is very wide but not very tall, i.e. it gives someone in a tree stand an added advantage...at least until the deer looks up!
I have noticed deer can pick off me wearing blaze orange better than me not wearing blaze orange, all else being equal, but I suspect it is because much blaze orange is treated with detergents with UV brighteners before being sold...and my other hunting clothes I wore were not, they are old and washed a thousand times w/o UV brighteners. It is interesting that deer can see blues much better than oranges.
