I read a quote the other day that went something like, "when it comes to big bucks, only the best bedding will do". It made me start to think of what is the best bedding? What makes up that type of place? If you were going to help me comprise a list for flat land best bedding areas what would that list look like? In other words, when you look at a topo, sat image or put boots on the ground and you see .............. or ......... your heart starts to pump and you know you will find a buck there. I'm not experienced enough to really put myself in the comment category here, but from what I have learned here in the last six months I am guessing some of the things will be:
1. Secluded/over looked areas
2. Islands
3. High spots( with a tree or patch of brush) in the marsh
Looking for further input.

Your list looks pretty good, but I would add that fingers with a hard transition are great spots. A lone large tree in otherwise thick low vegetation too...

What would a hard transition look like? Are you talking a cattail finger that changes rapidly to thick brush or????

Timber point going into cattails, or dogwood.
Here is a timber point going into a cattail marsh. A hard transition.
