Like Bucky said in another thread...........hang it on the wall and tell stories about the hunt to whoever will listen well into your golden years.

Re: You just shot a World Record buck
Stanley stole the first thing that came to mind
A second question would help answer the first.
You shot a record book and your married and your wife finds out someone will pay 40-100k and give you "the same dang thing back anyway"
what happens...
I'm married, I might get some fresh mud terrains and bow outta the deal..MAYBE some hanging time in the great room, maybe. And we would both be happy..lol

I'll take a payout and the replica. Maybe an iowa governor's tag.

I think Stanley has a man crush. He can't stop talking about Mitch.

I voted $100,000 and a replica. I could finance a moose, elk, brown bear, antelope, muley, and mountain lion hunts and still have change left over.

They've been spotted together here's a pic, not sure if it was photoshopped but looks authentic...

Re: You just shot a World Record buck
I think the market value of a typical world record might be above $100k so those of you who would do that are shorting yourselves. I think the Lovstuen buck went for 100k plus providing the replica and typicals are said to be worth more than non-typicals?
I wouldn't sell it because it wouldn't be a world record, cuz it wouldn't be entered.

Re: You just shot a World Record buck
The only problem with shooting a world records is literally every breath you've ever taken while hunting is going to be scrutinized forever. Don't know if I'd want to deal with that.
That being said....I voted the replica and $100k because I know you could easily get that. However, I'd take a replica and much less money. I could feed my children well with 20K or something and I'd still have plenty of stories to tell.

Re: You just shot a World Record buck
A guy behind the desk of the MN DNR "Wall of Shame" display said Cabelas offered the MN DNR like $200K for the world record typical 8 point that was poached a couple years ago... but they're not for sale.

Re: You just shot a World Record buck
I would sell for $100,000 plus the replica. $100,000 would pay off my house and have plenty left for my daughters college or type 1 diabetes supplies (for a while.)
But it is only a dream!

I'd take the money, what ever the going rate is and a replica and send it on it's way.
