Re: Bucks killed off of public land
South east Michigan public land bucks. Have killed a lot more off the public land but pics and racks have been lost in time. Not the biggest bucks but lots of good memories.

Re: Bucks killed off of public land
Not a giant, but for my first public land hunt ever 5 years ago I was pretty happy. While people were 4 wheeling and hiking a mile or two back in the woods, I went to an overlooked spot within a 100 yards of the road and 400 yards down from 2 deer camps with 20 or so total people. Everyone overlooked so close to their camp. Only a couple of those guys got a buck bigger and most didn't get a deer. I went in to this stand using their camp to funnel deer to me. It seemed to work.

Re: Bucks killed off of public land
Wow you guys amaze me with these bucks off of public. I've been hunting mostly private land and even tho I have a few pics of some 120-130" deer I've never seen them. I hunted public a little this year with no luck but didnt do any scouting. For you guys killing all these big ones how much are you scouting vs hunting? We're they killed hunting beds or during rut or what? I've gotta make some changes for next year

Re: Bucks killed off of public land
A big one I passed on public this year (had one I liked more on my trail cams) .
Here is one my buddy got on one of our hunts.
Of course, I'm sure that what land we have as public here does not resemble what most of you are faced with.

Yeah. Flat land, wind to my face. Access was opposite direction of where the buck was going to come from. He was a cow.

Hodag the buck on the top right is from Northwest Lower Michigan (Karlin) and the Euromount below it is from Northwest Lower (Benzie) The other bucks are all Yooper bucks...best place in the world to hunt if you ask me.

No Shortcuts. No Excuses. No Regrets.
Everybody's selling dreams. I'm too cheap to buy one.
