And to get it out of your scent stream, you have to contaminate the area to place it. But there are still situations where it works. I'm talking about gland-sex lures. I'm sure everyone that doesn't do scent control will say it doesn't work.
Attractants are what trappers use to get animals in traps. Deer are no different, they are attracted to certain smells.
Years ago I hunted the river bottoms a lot. I used to get to a place in the river where the wind was blowing towards the bedding areas. I would hang a scent bomb with doe in estrous on the river edge blowing into the timber. I would then float down stream and set up for a buck that might head that way.
It worked one time I got two bucks headed that way and sparring. I had no shot it was a hang and hunt situation. That was the only time it worked. I didn't use that technique in the following years. I think my biggest problem was I was also blowing human scent/boat scent into the areas. I try a lot of different things if they work I use them if not I don't. Most guys watch TV, read magazines and make assumptions from there. Most of the time there is an agenda in place. That is why I like to do my own testing.
