I learned a lot of lessons being a hardcore walleye fisherman. All I needed was a reminder a few times and I could see a direct comparison between the two....Find a good spot with a buddy? Oftentimes what you've done is find HIM a good spot to share with others.

[glow=red]Carpool to a fishing or hunting area? Not when his wife feels free to call and manipulate him into coming home before the boat's wet or the bow's out of the case....I've been two hours from home and he's gotten "the call[/glow]".

This has happened to me a few times. My friend and I a few seasons ago would car pool. He had a 4X4 so we took his vehicle most of the time. He also has kids that seem to always be getting into some sort of trouble when he is gone, so his wife usually makes that "come home" call when we are hunting.

Solo unless I take my son out. Spring turkey is fun with a buddy sometimes but I prefer to do my own thing. Might be doing a solo DIY elk hunt this year.

Yeah I'm a Lone Wolf when it comes to bow hunting. Most of my friends cave to their wives and say they don't have the time.

Lonewolf here as well. It's nice having friends around when I get back to the house and what not. I do all of hunting/scouting on my own

Alone, I have tried hunting with other guys on some of their places, but something inside didn't care for sitting in a stand/location that I never scouted for myself. Even though I got nada on public this year I wouldn't trade the freedom to go anywhere I wanted for that. The more I learn from the Beast the more empowered I feel and I havent met anyone yet ( in person) who hunts this way. A lone wolf, I like the sound of that for some reason.. :!:

I hunt by myself 99% of the time. I have a friend who is probably going to start focusing on public ground with me next year and I hope he does. I hope we develop a good plan together and one of us capatilizes. It gets lonely hunting by yourself sometimes. I just don't have many friends who take it as serious as me. I get on this forum and I know I have so much to learn. However I don't know any real serious hunters in my area that focus strictly on public ground. Makes me second guess my public land focus sometimes but it is what I love. I would be bored on a couple hundred acres of private.

I don't mind hunting or scouting with another person. My son is 14 now and he can now hunt on his own( with out me within sight or sound). I try to put him in a good spot and then just hunt another farm or do some scouting from a distance. We would burn out the farms I hunted every time he did. I also have some land out of town that I share with four other guys,we have to work together on that piece. I do hunt some public and that is always by myself. As I age, my desire has changed, I am not as hardcore as I used to be, and I would rather get my kid onto something. I have eaten my tag 3 years in a row now, an am really ok with that. Maybe I will get an itchy trigger finger in the future, but for now my goal is big buck or bust, and I realize with my style of hunting there will be alot more bust than bucks!

I'll go against the grain. I've done both. I prefer finding that lock-step hunting partner or a partner I am willing to hunt with some of the time (and split solo by myself).

Some people think having a hunting partner outright means there's little chance to tag a nice buck or meet goals. As long as you manage the human component, the partnership to me, seems to be worthwhile. Pooling of resources (sounds socialist I know...but I hope you understand what I mean), knowledge, time, effort, gear, etc. seems to actually produce for the greater good.

I have zero qualms about hunting alone. I did that several years and it can serve as the way to meet your goals if you so see fit.
