Are you shooting or passing?

Here is another scenario to help hone your field judging skills or just give you something to get a look at for this upcoming season.

I filmed this buck while playing cameraman for my dad on our private farm in SC Wisconsin. The buck is standing at 30 yards (I ranged him) when he stops and yes he came in down wind from us and I had to swing around and freehand film him. The date was Saturday, November 7, 2009 at about 2:50pm

is this a question of getting a good shot w/ what the buck presented or shooting him based on your own minimum score requirements? In either case= i'd shoot him all day if I felt I could get an arrow through the branches that were in the camera's view

I was more referring to score requirements. We had a clear shot at the buck, the branches were not a major consideration.

Hard to say. If I was hunting that land, I would have a very good idea of the caliber of bucks using that land thanks to my deer cameras. I would have put them out all summer away from their bedding area, but more just to get an idea of who is on that property.

If that was the biggest buck using that land, he would have had an arrow thrown his way. 8-)

If I saw him in a MN public marsh, I'm shooting.

Where I'm hunting this year, a buck of that calibar is getting an arrow thrown at him.

For your Dad's choice, well that's up to him as he knows your propoerty and what it holds/has for potential.

For my area, pass. If I were hunting on that farm and I knew that was an excellent buck for the area, he'd die.

Judging based on my other post about what I'm shooting, he gets a pass.... for now. Sure would be tough for me, told hod off, though.

Yup.
Pass for me too. I tool a poke at a similar one last year but he was probably a little bigger.
Good potential for a private property.
