The best part of the whole story is in the last picture... your story will be passed on!

I find it a very poetic end to my season. Of course, ill go and freeze for another couple hours to close it out properly.

What's "a little spiker" up there? About 180 lbs?

Do you bait with corn?

I found out this year that its hard to establish a bait sight with justl corn. This particular sight I talked about I started using corn. However, I only had one small two-year-old eight point buck coming through for the first two weeks. I don't think it has enough aroma, and it is food they're not used to in the big woods so they're not looking for that.

I switched to a mixture of corn, oats, wheat and sunflower seeds that has molasses and Apple cider infused in it. We can smell it from several meters away. So I imagine the deer can smell that from maybe as much as a mile away. Two days after I layed that down, I had six or seven new deer coming to it including the target buck who was bedding about 300 m through a lot of thick stuff north of the bait site.

By the end, there were at least 15 individual deer coming through.

As for what a Spiker is, I think I spiker is a Spiker anywhere you find it. Some are bigger – like the one I got last year that dressed out for the butcher at 125 pounds- he probably weighed around 175lbs live. But usually there if smaller than that.

There's a regular sized one behind the "big doe" -LOL- in this picture.

Oh man, I bet they turned on a dime when they smelled that stuff. lol Baiting can be dynamite up there that's for sure.
