Venison per year
How many deer do you eat in one calendar year? If you supply meat to your family members, please only include only the meat you supply to your immediate family (spouse, kids) or household.

Re: Venison per year
Myself, I will eat one to two at the most small deer every year. I think if I shot a large buck I wouldn't need venison for at least a year.

Same here. About 1-2 depending on the size. I use to shoot more back in the day to save money.

Re: Venison per year
Never found a reason to kill more than 2 deer.
One with bow and one with gun would be a perfect season for me and provide my wife and I with plenty of venison to last till next season.

I eat about 1.5 deer a year by myself. the other 1/2 I grill up and share with friends in the ice shack. this year only one deer so I don't share with anyone.

Re: Venison per year
Probably one in past years but we are going to start eating more to save money and my wife is starting to like the different marinades and rubs etc. If I lived by myself still probably 3 or 4, it was the only meat I could afford.

I'm not that fond of venison. I normally give my deer to a low income family.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

My wife hates venison and won't cook it. I like pork, beef, and chicken better so I go that route. She will eat those also. I used to trade some Lithuanians, chickens for the deer I killed. They have moved from the area now.

1 deer.....prime cuts, some burger and the rest jerky. I'm the only one that eats it.....my wife and kids won't!
If I take more than 1, I have buddies that live off venison, ducks and fish.

My grandfather and I eat at least 2. I have multiple neighbors and friends that are always asking for hot sticks and sausage... at $3+ a pound it is hard to give it away!
I often give sausage, sticks, and burger to landowners as a thank you.

That is for sure. I gave my sister a 200 + lb dressed buck a few years ago. She had the whole thing made into sausage. It cost her a bundle. They got so sick of sausage that year. She never wanted or asked for another deer.

Yep!
I rarely have a chance to give landowners some processed meat. They ask! Sometime they leave a small empty cooler on my truck as a subtle hint!
