So, I park my truck in a hay field around 2:00pm today. I get out and open the cap up and start getting my gear out for an afternoon sit. As I open up my bow case, I think....put your release on, it's November. I pick up my backpack and turn around to set it on the ground and see a mature 8 or better walking perpendicular to me, but 60 yards south of my truck location. He had made his way over 100yds of open field before I even saw him, not to mention he was only 100yds from a busy road in Waukesha County for all the cars passing by to see him. I quickly grabbed an arrow out of my quiver and closed the distance to try and get within 50 yds....which I did. So here I am in the field, no headcover, no cover to speak of and he is still walking. I can't believe my eyes at this point. He finally sees me and stops quartering to me. I wait.... He starts walking and then stops broadside. I start drawing the bow and only get the first few inches of draw and the release jaws open up and the arrow flies 25' and I'm like you have got to be kidding me! I know my finger wasn't on the release, so I'm guessing I just didn't have it on the string loop all the way. Needless to say, he ran off and all I could do was watch. Maybe I'll see him tomorrow. :-)

Bummer.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.
