Question about lactating does.

Unread postby Crazinamatese » Thu Nov 14, 2013 12:06 pm

Two of the does I shot recently still had full milk udders on them. Never seen this before. Is this normal this time of year?

Based on the research I have done in the pass, the average lactation period for a mature doe is 36 weeks.
I have read reports where it isn't uncommon for mature does to be "milked in" for 300 days per year though.

Its actually common to see mothers lactating well into Dec. in my region.
