Sorry if I've missed it, but has Muddy been around? I thought we would have seen a thread for sure by now, of the next "Dinkasaurus" ? Any luck with those Iowa Giants Muddy?

I am alive. Stand wise I'm closer to 120 hours with all the public land setting up and tearing down and the trickiness with getting in/out quietly. Have passed a few young deer and just haven't seen what I want.

Back at it on Friday thru Sunday, now it's daddy day care again.

Muddy, They moving pretty good down there? I was down last weekend and saw some decent bucks but it seemed a little slow. Thinking about heading down this weekend.

I sat all day, every day, the 1st thru the 7th before I saw a buck over 120 inches. Kept my head in the game as best as I could but the 6th/7th it started to turn on and within a few days I honestly think bucks were locked down. It was a freaking frenzy all weekend and I passed a few good ones. Hope this weekend has some bigger bucks up and moving.

It seems like it followed that script in Southern and Central WI. Seeking and chase phases seemed shorter than usual in all the areas. By Saturday it already felt like lock down had started. The best days IMHO were Nov 1-4. Big boys were moving and movement was semi-predictable.

Yes, I think chase phase was shorter than previous years. Maybe that means that the "seeking phase" when we start seeing long bucks in weird areas will be longer? I certainly hope so because I have joined the "weekend warrior" ranks again and need all the help I can get right now. Specifically targeting a couple specific deer sure has it's ups, downs, and frustrations.

Best advice I can tell myself is that season can literally turn around in 3 heart beats.

I also had all of last week off work, & I think it was the worst action I have ever had for a week of hunting the rut... I did not see one buck chasing a doe, I thought I might have heard one once, but thats it..... it was ugly. I'm also going to try this weekend, & hope that there is an old dumb one looking for a doe.
