An hour is preffered, but in some instances I have gotten there 2-3 hours before first light, especially during gun season in the north country when I am using other "late bloomer" hunters to push deer towards me. Bow hunting I very seldom hunt mornings.

I like to be settled in for a half hour or so, before shooting light.

Depends on the stand location and the time of the year. There are times where Im setup in my LW 90 min before dark because I know I'll bump deer on the way in and I want them to settle back down before it gets light out.

I'm usually set up and settled in about 30-45 mins before first light, but have been in an hour before. Have had deer come through before light, and that's aggravating not being able to identify them or get a shot.

I usually try to get there between a hour and a half hour depending on where I'm setting up and the walk I have to take.

I like to get to the base of the tree 2 hours before first light, then take my time with my climber and getting everything situated, then take a snooze!
