Glasses or Contacts ?

Unread postby Swampthing » Tue Aug 10, 2010 10:42 am

I can't wear contacts so I had to go with glasses.I lost a big buck that I was stalking last year from my glasses reflecting in the sun.Anyone else have any thoughts about glasses ?

Get Lasik, one of the best things I ever did.

I wear glasses as well, contacts just won't work. Have thought about lasik but just can't commit.

I can't do contacts either. I haven't had a sun reflection problem but I sweat all over my glasses constantly. I hate them (except for the whole being able to see thing). I have a Pterygium on my right eye that I have to have removed; then I can see if I'm a Lasik canidate.

I have used contacts and glasses, contacts are my preferred choice now. Glasses always seem to fog up for me. As for the contacts I had issues (headaches) with them until I had the doctor reduce the power (.25) in each eye. The other issue is the need to keep them lubricated. For most people the problem is the contacts dry out. There are different types of contacts out there which will make your eyes blink more often which inturn lubricates the contact making them more comfortable and easier to use then glasses. I feel my vision is better all the way around with contacts.

I had insurance that paid $500 an eye, I think it's around $2,000 per eye, haven't priced it lately. Not cheap, but worth it in my opinion.

I wear glasses and try to keep the bill of my hat as low as possible to help keep the sun off the glasses.

Had the Lasik done 9 years ago while working in Chicago, best thing I ever did.

Price at that time was based upon how "bad" your eyes were. I was 100% in and out with a $1200.00 bill. Add sugested $500.00 per eye with no insurance coverage.

Surgery was quick and they moved us thru like cattle. My brother, who lives in Chicago, was watching in the observing room thru glass and laughing his a$$ off how fast people were shipped thru. I was sitting in the "waiting room" with at least 20 people with at least 50 more up stairs with more people piling thru the doors by the hour.

Not what I would call caring, fantastic service but everything held up so far. Some of the women were crying for how fast they were having us move thru all the steps. You want caring doctors and explanations thruout the whole process expect to pay more. From my intial eye exam to the surgery date was all done in 8 days.
