What are you doing different this year
It is said that the definition of insanity is doing the same things and expecting different results.
So what is everybody plan to do different this year?
I may try to utilize more patience, but I say that every year. I may scout a bit more to plot this monster up the roads fate.
What say you?

Re: What are you doing different this year
I am moving in from day 1 on spots that I have scouted, based on the wind and time of the year. I am not wasting the first 3-3.5 weeks of October like I have done in the past by hunting on the outer fringes. With a couple thousands acres of public land thoroughly scouted and mapped out, I have more than enough "good" spots picked out. I will go for broke on certain portions and as the saying says, "Que sera sera" or whatever will be will be.....

you mentioned you had pretty good pressure where you were turkey hunting. Same public ground you hunting deer?
I have a friend from FL that has a place in the NC mountains, I was hoping to get out there some time.
Virginia sounds like you gotta plan.
I may try a Tree Saddle too. Bridge sent me one last year to try and I never did use it or send it back.

Hunt more public land.I have more options with the Alpha and sticks I purchased. Also I don't want to over hunt the areas in which I hunt.

Gonna focus more on hunting my bucks early around their bedding areas. Overall, just hunting smarter than ever before.

I'm hunting Iowa. Instead of just buying another point.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

Some of it will be the same. Found what i think is a nice spot that I'll get to check out in a couple of weeks.

Re: What are you doing different this year
I have a couple of heavy pressure public land bucks that during deer season prefer to bed at least a hundred yards and even much more from the nearest tree that can hold a treestand a few feet off the ground. That's why they bed there, they normally don't get bothered or encounter human scent near their bed. I'm set up on the ground in blowdowns, stumps and brush and will be wearing a headnet with no eye holes in it. I've shot deer this way before, and with these bucks It's going to give me my best chance of shooting them before dark near their staging area.
I have more "normal" bucks scouted and prepped as well.

Re: What are you doing different this year
I have been getting decent buck pics on my place and I usually dont step foot on it until the rut. Going to be out there super early opening day. Hopefully the wind is right and I can still catch him on his summer pattern.
