Thought of one more. Dan's trick for cam locking the lone wolf. Knee on seat, toe hook platform. Thanks Dan!

I could list a number of things...
The "way" I scout now has changed so much than prior to the BEAST.

Well there are two things for me. The first one is that you have to find the buck's bed in order to have an opportunity for a shot. Two you have to scout and scout and scout some more.

Re: What is everyones #1 thing they have learned from the be
"The deer go where the hunters don't go"
Our public land spots are relatively small and crowded, so finding a bedding area that the bucks are using regularly during the season is a pipe dream. However, by using Dan's advice on reading terrain and aerial photos, I am able to determine fairly consistently where those bucks are retreating to on private land and where they will access the public land. This year I harvested my buck less than 100 yards from the public parking area because I determined that they must be coming from the private property across the road. A topo map showed a small hill on the private property that you can't see from the road...long story short, I assumed the deer were bedding there and crossing the road before dark and heading to the food plots at the far end of the public land. Most hunters head to the food plots. I hunted along the road and had my buck in the truck before the other hunters were climbing down at dark!

The situation is not the problem...how you handle the situation is the problem!

It does get heavy, I pack my lw stand, sticks and pack like the video. All total with out the pack 25 lbs. add the pack which is 3 lbs empty then add lights and water, the weight adds up quick. How anyone goes out hunting with all this stuff and says its light, they must be kidding, after carrying all this stuff during the season, you do get in better shape by the end of the season.

Wow !! Where to start.
#1 that bucks older than !.5 or 2.5 CAN be found on heavily pressured land and there is a system to hunt them.

I can think of a many things but I will say I have learned to be more aggressive when hunting bedding areas. In the past I would set further from the bedding.

Scout more than you hunt. Previously, I thought I knew "everything" about the different grounds/properties that I hunt! Once I started putting in some serious late Winter/early Spring time scouting I realized how closed-minded I was.
