Cool Experience Saturday Night

Unread postby Busch Light Bandit » Tue Oct 22, 2013 3:50 am

I had a fun hunt Saturday night even though it started out in windy, rainy conditions. Normally the property I hunt isn't too pressured. Well Saturday I had two other hunters close by and they decided to call to eachother. I knew the one was there and then after the first doe bleat, I knew right where the other was. It was quite comical to me that these two were calling to eachother. They didn't figure it out until the 3 cycle of calls. That being said, I knew the one guy was there and he had setup close to where I was going to go. I was courteous and didn't want to step on toes, so I went into a patch of smaller cedars and knelt down next to a busy intersection of trails. Lots of old sign, nothing looked new. After these guys stopped calling, I had a nice bodied, 4pt stroll past with in about 15-20 yards. Never knew I was there until he got further down the trail. I am pretty sure he caught my wind about 40 yards down the way. I never saw the white flag and he walked back into the marsh. I haven't taken a shot yet this year, but it has been fun being out and experiencing new things while bow hunting.

Haha that is funny the guys calling to each other. I have caught myself calling to other turkey hunters before but its entertaining how much a lot of guys try to call out into the wind for whitetails.

I had a session like that about 4yrs ago. grunt, doe call, more grunts back and forth, then I figured out what was happening, kind of funny. Must be much funnier if you are watching/listening to 2 guys going at it though.

Some areas around by me if you fart too loud during the rut you will have a guy blowing a grunt call back at you.

Not kidding and this actually happened!
