Big buck spotted
I walked in the woods this afternoon to scout and ambush hunt. I did find some scraps near a point and a huge fresh rub so I set up close. As I was on stand it rained which I then hopeful the big boy would come out and freshen his scrapes. About an hour before dark he showed a monster 10pt! It was dead still in the woods and caught movement from the my tree and then tip toed out. I tried to lightly grunt at him to maybe catch his curiosity but didn't work. He then headed up the ridge know something was wrong. When should I hunt him again, when will he be back?

Re: Big buck spotted
Brown is scrapes, yellow is rub, red is bucks entry and blue was his exit... orange is property border. I'm assuming he's bedding close to his entry but not sure where. Hope there's a way I can kill him before he leaves and start cruising for does.

U can try again tomorrow out of different tree... but if he got you in the air that is not good. He will likely be sniffing around tonight after dark

Re: Big buck spotted
It has already rained since I left, do you guys think he'll be in same spot tomorrow evening? Or should I let the area cool down for a couple days?

Re: Big buck spotted
He won't be back if you got busted. Not this time of year. I could sugar coat it and say he might be but I wouldn't be honest in my opinion. I hope I am wrong and you kill him.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

You got nothing to loose sitting it tomorrow PM. New tree
Likelihood of seeing same buck is probably low

Hunt it... People have killed bucks just like your scenario before. Chances are probably low, but it does happen.

I would go back the first week of November for a morning hunt, you'll get him. Good luck!

Same thing happened to me last year, and I thought about not going back, but then I went back same spot and killed him the next night....you got nothing to lose IMO.

Try it out. If unsuccessful, go back the first week of November.
