I'm interested to hear what the Beast members think about this topic. Over the years I've noticed that when I occasionally bump deer in the morning going to my stand some deer blow once and some blow several times almost like the blows are connected. During daylight when deer have winded me the does always do the one sharp blow then run 10 yds and do it again... but when I've had bucks wind me they seem to always do the several short connected blows as they run off. Anyone else notice this?

Re: when deer blow at you
Never heard the connection blow as you mentioned.
As long as they don't get eyes on me I don't stress over bumping a deer and hearing it stomp or blow at me. I've watched deer blow and stomp at raccoons, squirrels, an even other deer. Other deer that hear another blow may perk their ears for a moment, but they'll generally go back to whatever they were doing before the other deer sounded off so long as they aren't in sight of one another. Of course when deer are in the open, such as an open field, and one deer goes on high alert, then of course all the other deer in sight of that one will be alert to the reaction of the one sounding off, but out of sight and you should e good to go.

Re: when deer blow at you
In my observations very rarily have I had a buck snort at me. Whenever I was scouting or happen to have the wind swirl in stand and a buck was in sight they slip out quiet with no snorting. Does on the other hand snort some once and gone some snort for 15 minutes. Regardless I don't give up my hunt. Had a doe snort at me for about 10 minutes and still had deer come into stand.

Mature bucks snort less than does & young bucks. In my experiences a mature buck may snort once and be gone. Most often they just move out trying to remain undetected.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Nothing like getting to a stand location in the dark and sitting on the ground, only to have a deer get 5 yrds from you and start snorting.
First it scares you than it is laughable. because they were so close before they noticed you were there.

Re: when deer blow at you
In the past I always figured my hunt was over when deer started blowing. About 30 minutes before I shot my buck this year, I heard a deer blowing in the beding area and then he stepped out. My dad also had an encounter with a mature buck two nights ago and he had a buch of does blowing at him while the buck was coming in. IMO, deer blow often at and about random things and sometimes don't think anything of it when another deer blows.
