Oh heck yeah I can relate!! It's the only reason I have a smartphone..

It's such a pain when the wind is fickle like that.

Yup. I sat a "doe spot" one day last week with winds like that. Up to that point I had sat that parcel 7 times, shot one doe and never,NEVER sat that area without seeing at least a few animals. Most up close.

The wind blew from what seemed like a different direction every 20 minutes, covering 360*. I polluted the doe bedding to the Northeast and south, the buck bedding to the SE,and the travel corridor to the SW. If anything was already in the corn, they smelled me too.

I've been in that 40 acre parcel twice since and it's like there's no deer in the area at all...Stick a fork in that spot: It's done.

Yep I can relate, at least you got a heads up its going to be bad. Don't know how many times I've been all setup or close to bedding and the wind from the wrong direction comes out of no where and screws me. One time I was close to a set and just up and left and hunted does from the ground I was so pissed.

That is a good time to sit high and hope the thermals help you out. Ouch! I hate days like those.

That's a tough one and see it all the time. As bass said, days like that I will go in for evening hunts as late as I think I can get away with and plan on thermals pulling my scent down as temps dump. I do this a lot with very light and variable winds as well. That's where a bag of milkweed pods comes in handy... ill throw em all night long... or ill just stay home if the wind is really switchn that much. Do more harm than good with steady winds flipping like that.

I hunt ridges and drainage's and the wind and currents are just unpredictable. It's kicked my but since the season opened Oct 1.

Only really good feeding sign I've found is loaded with falling white oaks and reds and the deer are pouring in to them. I've killed deer in this spot before when it had acorns..year before last..and know the deer come from all directions and they have this year only none have gotten close enough for a shot with my recurve before others have come in from down wind and blew me out. Happened 3 mornings and 1 evening.

Pouring down rain here now and suppose to rain hard till Mon. morning.

Sometimes if you don't have any spots where the wind will be predictable it's best to just do some in season scouting.

Wind has been driving me nuts. With the high temps and fickle winds I haven't even been out yet
