WKP Webisode "Buck of a Lifetime"
Hey Todd, good stuff:

One question, did the hunter every figure out how the deer was able to make it so far? Looked like a good shot. Just curious.
Thanks, Jake

He is a member on the Beast! I think you just asked him yourself....

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Didn't realize that was Czabs, but I wanted to give Todd some props and exposure anyway.

Well deserved. Todd takes a lot of heat by promoting ozonics, but the guy is as hardcore as they come. He lives and breathes big whitetails. Good stuff indeed.

:) thanks Todd for the episode! Jake, quartering too, 40 yards, 1 lung, liver, and came out guts. Horrible blood, shot with slick tricks 100 grain. Never would have found that deer if it wasnt in cattails.

Great buck,
Seeing what you had to go through to track that, gives me a who new respect for you marsh hunting guys. And I thought the green briars of SWPA were tough I don't have many marshes near me but would contemplate giving it a shot.

Re: WKP Webisode "Buck of a Lifetime"
The way out with it was worse. Didnt want to film it because I would give up my location. Tracking wasnt too bad except lack of blood sucked. Cattails arent as intimidating as they seem to be.

Thanks for clarifying and congrats.
I really don't think that people give mature bucks enough credit for how clever / squirrely and how tough they are. The one truly mature buck that I have killed with my bow was a liver shot. I snuck out of the area and came back the next morning. After figuring out multiple backtracks and cuts, I found the deer a couple hundred yards from the shot STILL ALIVE. This was around 14 hours later. Autopsy confirmed solid, broadside liver hit. Big bodied, mature bucks are just different animals than does and young bucks in many ways (habits, reclusiveness, wariness, toughness, etc.)
